Introduce yourself! Who is PurrsianPlays? Where do you stream/create content?
It’s so lovely to meet your community of cool cats – hi all! I’m Mitra aka PurrsianPlays. My silly little calico vtuber loves the behind the scenes stories of creating video games.
I put together in-depth YouTube video essays from time to time. One featured a fighting game that had magical alpacas and steers – can’t believe how much traction that one’s getting. I also enjoy streaming the games I talk about on Twitch!
Is there a story behind your name?
The Persian culture is wildly obsessed with cats and my mom used to give me Japanese lucky cats as a child. I decided to combine these two personal parts of myself.
What type of games do you focus on?
I sincerely enjoy the medium and hate limiting myself! There are so many amazing games right now – like Another Crab’s Treasure where you play a crab fighting the ocean with the junk on your back and the fork in your hand. The weirder the better. That’s what I enjoy!
You feature rescue cats during your streams, can you tell me more about that?
For years, I’ve appreciated how creators like Jacksepticeye or Markiplier entertained viewers with chaos yet found a way to help vulnerable communities too.
I wanted to use a similar approach to help cats. Things REALLY kicked into gear when I partnered with Crits4Cats. They’re an excellent 501c(3) that fosters cats with special needs and have an amazing network of volunteers.
Where do the cats that you feature come from?
For fun, I pay attention to the locations of my viewers and feature cats from their shelters. I’ll often highlight my local shelter, the Peninsula Humane Society, in Northern California. The cats most frequently featured would be several of the fosters from Crits4Cats.
Why do you want to help cats?
My Mom grew up living on a beautiful property full of flora and fauna in Iran. My grandparents let many animals enjoy themselves among the fields and gardens. Cats in particular were their favorite. Even when my family moved here, my grandparents would care for local cats. All of this had a major influence on me
Is there a particular cat that inspired you?
I had a truly dear rescue in my life. Her name was Tiger Lily. Tiger Lily was an affectionate Maine Coon. I met her when she was 4 and she lived with me until she passed away at 17.
She truly deserved all the love she received from me and those that adored her. Her favorite song was Edith Piaf’s La Vie En Rose.
Sometimes when my mom was in pain from a debilitating knee injury she would listen to that song. Lily would run up to my mom immediately, carefully knead her leg, and purr.

What's your favorite cat game or cat character from a game?
I think this is a question that’s difficult for any cat lover to answer! I’m pretty charmed by Little Kitty, Big City these days. As adorable as that little “void cat” is – it’s the cast of characters that makes me laugh my butt off. They’re all wonderfully fleshed out and I enjoy the silly little lore behind them.
Do you have any plans for the future that you'd like to tease?
It’s not much of a tease but MORE YOUTUBE STUFF INCOMING. I’ve been a video editor and animator for years. I’m truly ready to let a few ideas tumble out of my head!
Where can people watch you?
My two biggest haunts are YouTube and Twitch under my handle purrsianplays. I upload some nonsense to TikTok or X (Twitter) too!
